About The Position

The role of the Sanitation Lead requires a combination of leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to food safety and quality. The role of a Sanitation Lead requires an understanding of food safety regulations, experience in food manufacturing, and the ability to work with all level of supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of computers and the ability to input data into a computer.
  • Lift 50 pounds 100-200 times during the shift
  • Stand and/or walk for the duration of the shift
  • Use hands to finger, grip, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred - 2 years in Food Manufacturing or 1 year in Sanitation. Knowledge of chemicals and their application.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Overseeing All Sanitation Operations: Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards, maintain a safe/clean and efficient production environment through sanitation.
  • Lead and Assist with Training the Sanitation Team: Assist the Sanitation Supervisor in assigning daily tasks, monitor employee performance, monitor the adherence to sanitation schedules, chemical training, sanitation standard operating procedures training (SSOP’s).
  • Maintain Accurate Sanitation Records: Assist the Sanitation Supervisor with keeping detailed records (Master Sanitation Schedule, Daily Cleaning Logs, operational checks, and pre-operation inspections)
  • Conduct Routine Inspections: Verify equipment and production areas meet sanitation and food safety standards prior to releasing equipment to Food Safety Quality Assurance (FSQA) and production.
  • Participate in Regulatory Audits: Assist the Sanitation supervisor with ensuring employee compliance with sanitation protocols and assist with resolving any sanitation non-conformities.
  • Reviews production schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products.
  • Cleans and sanitizes packing machines, mixing tanks, kettles, pick systems, pumps and/or pipes (as needed).
  • Assists in developing and/or revising sanitation standard operating procedures.
  • Assists in developing and/or revising sanitation working practices.
  • Assists in developing and/or revising observation and training practices for workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Verify chemical inventory.
  • Verify cleaning equipment inventory.
  • Test chemical concentrations.
  • Operate chemical dispensing unit.
  • Perform Supervisory job duties in their absence.
  • Assist the Sanitation Supervisor with special projects.
