About The Position

The City of High Point is seeking a Sanitation Equipment Operator I to operate sanitation equipment for the collection of solid waste from residents and businesses. Requirements

• Valid North Carolina Class B CDL Driver's License.
• Clean driving and safety record.
• Ability to lead and direct others in all weather conditions.
• Knowledge of safety standards and compliance with OSHA and City policies.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive and operate sanitation equipment including automated side-loaders, rear-loaders, boom trucks, swap-loaders, and front-end loaders on assigned routes.
• Lead and supervise a two-man crew for efficient solid waste collection.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Report violations of the solid waste ordinance and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Collect and dispose of refuse, yard waste, debris, junked furniture, and appliances.
• Collaborate with the solid waste collection team to ensure timely service.
• Log work and report infractions using mobile devices.
• Engage with the public, answering questions regarding Environmental Services Division procedures.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA and City Safety Standards.
