About The Position

The Sanitation Worker is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the food manufacturing plant, with a focus on the thorough cleaning and sanitization of processing equipment surfaces, reusable containers, and production areas. This role includes handling and moving both clean and dirty containers, as well as managing trash and debris to ensure a safe and sanitary environment during night shift operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in sanitation or janitorial work, preferably in a food manufacturing environment, is a plus.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures.
• Ability to operate sanitation tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time. This role requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
• Must be able to consistently lift 50 lbs. and move heavy objects.
• Must be able to operate a power washer for long periods of time.
• Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Must follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
• Eligibility to Work: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and provide appropriate documentation to complete the I-9 verification process.
• Age Requirement: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
• Transportation Requirement: Applicants must have reliable transportation to and from work to meet job attendance and punctuality requirements.
• Pre-Employment Screening: Candidates must successfully pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize processing equipment surfaces including blenders, pumps, and small parts.
• Power-wash 55-gallon drums and IBC totes to meet sanitation standards.
• Assist in moving clean drums and totes into production for future use.
• Assist in moving dirty drums and totes into the Clean Out of Place (COP) area.
• Mop and clean floors throughout the facility, ensuring no slick substances remain.
• Ensure floors are clear of all trash and debris, including packaging materials, wooden pallet scraps, and possible foreign contaminants.
• Regularly inspect floor conditions and address any spills or messes promptly.
• Perform deep cleaning of production areas to ensure removal of food residues and contaminants.
• Assist in loading all trash into the dumpster.
• Assist in removing bulk trash from the production area into the trash loading zone.
• Ensure all sanitation equipment is maintained and in good working condition.
• Assist with the cleaning and sanitization of other areas of the plant as needed.
• Participate in routine deep cleaning schedules and special cleaning projects.
• Follow all safety and hygiene guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
• Focus on sanitation practices aligned with overnight protocols, including pre-operational cleaning of equipment and areas identified as out-of-spec by the Quality department following QC testing.
• Follow food safety and quality protocols.
• Follow GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), housekeeping and safe work practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
