About The Position

The Sandwich Maker supports the Deli team by preparing made-to-order sandwiches and related deli items quickly, accurately, and to The Golden Hog’s quality standards. This role is highly visible to customers and requires a professional, friendly presence while maintaining speed, consistency, and food safety. The cashier will take customer orders; the Sandwich Maker will execute orders based on tickets and coordinate with the team for accurate handoff.

Requirements

  • Previous deli, food service, or retail experience.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills; professional and positive attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced, high-visibility customer environment.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods and able to lift up to 40 lbs (with or without reasonable accommodation).
  • Must hold a valid Food Handling Certificate or be willing to complete the required online food safety training within a company-defined timeframe.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare made-to-order sandwiches, wraps, and deli items from tickets/production requests, following recipes and portion standards.
  • Support other deli production as needed (salads, portioning, slicing), following quality and food-safety standards.
  • Coordinate with cashier and deli team to confirm ticket details, timing, and accurate handoff.
  • Provide friendly, professional service; acknowledge guests and answer basic product questions while keeping production moving.
  • Verify ingredients, special instructions, and packaging/labels before releasing orders for pickup.
  • Maintain product quality and presentation (freshness, temperature, appearance); escalate concerns to the Deli Manager.
  • Keep the station stocked and organized; rotate, label, and store items using FIFO and food-safety guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the workstation, tools, and surrounding areas throughout the shift.
  • Assist with prep as needed (mise en place, slicing, portioning, packaging) to support smooth service.
  • Follow all food safety, hygiene, and safety procedures, report hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Maintain urgency during peak periods and support team priorities as assigned.
