The Sander/Blaster smooths surfaces of items, such as automobile or applicant components, prior to finishing operations. The incumbent will work 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Some overtime work may be required.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED or demonstrated competence.
Read and understand instructions in English.
Basic addition and subtraction.
Read simple mechanical blueprints.
Ability to stand in one place for extended periods of time with continuous arm motion throughout the day.

Responsibilities

Grind, sand, clean or polish objects to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools.
Polish ground areas will finer abrasive to produce smooth, unmarred surface.
Mark defects for repair.
Measure and mark equipment, objects and parts to ensure grinding standards are met.
Record product and processing data on specified form.
Load and adjust workpieces onto equipment or worktables and inspect the surface of the workpiece for defects.
Verify the quality of finished workpieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.
Replace worn abrasive disks, wheels and belts as required.
