About The Position

Abrades surfaces of metal castings to remove adhering scale, shell, and dirt, and to impact specified finish by performing the following duties. Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00-$19.00/hr. entry level Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Requirements

Minimum experience required 0-3 years
High School diploma preferred not required
Ability to understand basic English
Be able to follow basic instruction and work direction
Requires basic math skills
Requires basic computer skills
Stand for entire shift
Repetitive-continuous use of hands to finger, handle or feel
Reach with both hands and arms
Frequently required to walk, lift and/or move up to 35 lbs
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and depth perception
Noise level is usually loud
Prescribed safety equipment must be worn at all times

Responsibilities

Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper
Loads parts into cabinets
Turns valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle or into tumbling barrel.
Starts equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surface of parts.
Directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval.
Examines finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications.
Check sandblast cabinets after each break & end of shift, and check the blast nozzle for wear
Check appearance of the Aluminum Oxide blast media, dispose of media that appears “powdery”, replenish cabinet with new blast media
