The General Clerk III position at Military Sealift Command (MSC) in San Diego is responsible for performing a variety of administrative and clerical tasks to support the smooth and efficient operation of the office. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The General Clerk will participate in the Ability One program, which allows individuals with significant disabilities to work in various positions within our Government Contracted positions. The role is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, and offers a weekday schedule with government-recognized holidays off. The position also includes paid time off (PTO) based on contract and access to comprehensive benefits, including a Health and Welfare benefit rate of $4.57 per hour, subject to change depending on the contract. In this role, the General Clerk III will provide general administrative support by managing correspondence, maintaining files, and organizing documents. The clerk will answer phone calls, take messages, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members. Additionally, they will prepare and maintain reports, spreadsheets, and databases to track and monitor various office activities. The General Clerk III will also direct General Clerk II's to ensure that appropriate steps are being taken to complete assigned tasks, procure and maintain office supplies and equipment, and perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently. Providing excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and requests promptly and professionally is also a key responsibility. Collaboration with team members and other departments will be essential to ensure smooth workflow and efficient operations, while adhering to established procedures, policies, and guidelines to maintain confidentiality and data security.
