About The Position

At SPL , we turn science into impact. We’re searching for a detail-oriented part-time Sample Management Technician to join our laboratory team in Reading, PA . In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Basic computer skills, including database and spreadsheet entry
• Strong recordkeeping skills with attention to detail
• Effective organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to perform under pressure
• Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff
• Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines
• Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system
• Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
• Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols
• Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required
• Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities
• Perform other duties as assigned.
