We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician I to join our laboratory team in Reading, PA. In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred
  • Prior laboratory, sample handling, or regulated work environment experience preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail with effective organizational and time-management skills

Responsibilities

  • Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff
  • Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines
  • Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system
  • Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
  • Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols
  • Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required
  • Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with company standards and safety requirements
  • Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while upholding accuracy, quality, and procedural standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position and training provided
