About The Position

At SPL , we turn science into impact. We’re searching for a detail-oriented Sample Management Technician to join our laboratory team in Williston, ND . In this role, you’ll handle the intake, documentation, and organization of environmental samples to support compliance and decision-making. From logging samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to overseeing storage and distribution, your work ensures accuracy, efficiency, and integrity across the lab. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required;
  • Familiarity with basic chemistry preferred;
  • Basic computer skills, including database and spreadsheet entry;
  • Strong recordkeeping skills with attention to detail;
  • Effective organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to perform under pressure;
  • Dependable, hardworking, and eager to learn;
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively;
  • Commitment to safety and quality in all laboratory activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with basic chemistry preferred;

Responsibilities

  • Receive and document samples from clients, couriers, shipping, laboratory, and/or field staff;
  • Verify that all samples meet condition standards and comply with organizational policies, quality requirements, and applicable regulatory guidelines;
  • Accurately record sample information, details, and required analyses in laboratory software system;
  • Label, organize, and distribute samples to appropriate personnel in a timely manner;
  • Maintain orderly and secure sample storage areas and oversee the proper placement, retrieval, and disposal of samples in accordance with established protocols;
  • Prepare sample kits and manage outbound shipments as required;
  • Provide assistance to colleagues and support related operational functions, including inventory management, supply preparation, and general support activities;
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment in alignment with company standards and safety requirements;
  • Complete assigned tasks within established timelines while upholding accuracy, quality, and procedural standards;
  • Perform other duties as assigned, within the scope of the position and training provided.
