About The Position

The UL Solutions campus in Fremont is constantly evolving to better serve our mission toward a safer, more secure, and sustainable world to live, work, and play. A Sample Handler will support the day-to-day operation of our Fremont laboratories, by working with a team of individuals to safely manage the receipt, transfer, transport, chain of custody, and proper dispositioning of samples; both physically and in our database.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with hand and small power tools, such as saws and drills, in a safe manner.
  • Ability to remain stationary position; as well as move, handle, and transport objects up to 60 lbs. throughout the location, assisted or unassisted.

Responsibilities

  • Management of samples from receiving.
  • Internal distribution through lab testing, to dispatch and dispositioning using database and Microsoft Office software.
  • Checking samples against sample requirement and raising any issues to Project team.
  • Ensure samples are managed within quality process and in compliance with according the UL Quality and accreditation process requirements.
  • Working with teams to ensure samples are ready and available for test start internal customers and stored in the correct location.
  • Communicating and guiding internal customers on sample return via phone and email.
  • Support laboratory, engineering and shipping/receiving teams.
  • May also be responsible for maintenance of the warehouse.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Assist and trains staff as directed.
  • May assist leadership in the development of training as necessary.
  • May develop or assist in the creation of reports and metrics as necessary.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, clean and productive work area.
  • Conducts periodic inventories of sample storage areas.
  • Reports any lost, missing or damaged samples and assists in the research and resolution.
  • Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Estimated salary range for this position is $39,100 to $61,500.
  • Eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary.
