About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse (RN) administers nursing care to patients and/or plans, directs and coordinates the nursing care of a group of patients utilizing the nursing process and in collaboration with the healthcare team. The RN instructs patients and/or families in procedures, healthcare practices and continuing care after discharge. The RN performs duties and responsibilities in a manner adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures and in compliance with professional practice standards, regulatory bodies and the Indiana State Nurse Practice Act

Requirements

  • CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Certification/license: Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current license as a registered nurse with the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau
  • Participates in Basic Life Support training per American Heart Association standards.
  • Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance.
  • Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.

  • Demonstrates acceptable attendance and punctuality
  • Participates in identifying or recommending areas for improvement
  • Participates in quality improvement activities to improve patient care related to planned outcomes
  • Completes assigned responsibilities in an efficient, timely manner
  • Recognizes impact of actions on other departments and interacts in a manner conducive to teamwork and cost containment
  • Collaborates with other members of the health team regarding patient care needs and responsibilities, and delegates, as appropriate
  • Communicates pertinent patient information clearly, accurately, concisely and in a timely manner to other healthcare providers

  • Practice is consistent with safety principles, OSHA guidelines, and infection control guidelines
  • Delivers patient care in a compassionate, non-judgmental manner respecting the patient's rights.
