About The Position

The SWD Technician is responsible for operating and maintaining water recycling equipment in coordination with the Operational Control Center (OCC), Water Coordinators, and Water Management teams. This role supports daily water recycling operations, performs routine and preventative maintenance, assists with facility construction, and ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of produced water and recycled water infrastructure. The technician may work independently or as part of a team and is expected to respond to unplanned operational needs.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of produced water operations and equipment
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively by phone
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Office
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR check, fit for duty/agility test.

Nice To Haves

  • 1.5 years of experience as a Produced Water Technician III preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage recycled water supplies and storage to meet scheduled demand under direction from supervisors and Water Coordinators.
  • Coordinate produced water influent supply with Pioneer’s Asset Teams.
  • Operate and monitor Above Ground Storage Tanks (ASTs), ponds, tanks, pipelines, and water processing or treatment equipment.
  • Support OCC and Control Room operations by performing required manual tasks.
  • Collect and test water samples and learn proper water testing techniques and equipment use.
  • Monitor all influent and effluent pipelines, hoses, and associated equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on pumps, compressors, engines, motors, valves, filters, electrical panels, and related equipment.
  • Walk tank perimeters, climb pit walls and AST stairs for inspections, and verify instrumentation.
  • Identify abnormal conditions and assist in troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Generate and complete work orders, maintain schedules, and respond to unplanned maintenance needs.
  • Conduct power washing, cleaning, and general housekeeping to maintain safe and orderly facilities.
  • Maintain and secure tools, equipment, and company vehicles, and report faulty tools or equipment.
  • Follow all company HSE policies, state and local regulations, and proper PPE requirements.
  • Ensure proper handling of recycling waste streams, including NORM, air quality materials, and oil skim.
  • Use proper lockout/tag-out procedures.
  • Detect and report oil, water, or gas leaks through appropriate channels.
  • Maintain accurate logs, readings, inspection records, and required documentation.
  • Drive to remote locations to gather information, diagnose issues, and perform minor repairs.
  • Assist with construction of new water facilities alongside Water Management, PXD Land, and contractors.
  • Communicate clearly with OCC, Water Coordinators, landowners, and water customers.
  • Provide support during call-outs and may relieve other employees as needed.
