About The Position

The Salon Business Consultant is a sales solution specialist role, covering and growing a territory in and around Richmond, Henrico, Midlothian, Farmville, and Glen Allen Virginia (VA). This position offers an uncapped commission, vehicle reimbursement plan, and full benefits. The primary responsibility is to help grow the overall sales of assigned salons by meeting and achieving sales goals through manufacturer education and sales resources. The Consultant will actively use social media to serve salons, barbers, spas, schools, and licensed beauty professionals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 1 year demonstrated outside sales experience or beauty industry experience with emphasis on consultative selling.
  • Must live within the assigned territory.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control systems and visual merchandising is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience using social media platforms to build pipelines and business needs.
  • Excellent computer skills, knowledge of salesforce.com, Outlook, PDF Expert, and Oracle.
  • Ability to build an online community and create social connections.
  • This position requires local travel within the territory and attendance at shows, conventions, and educational events.

  • Ability to present a professional business image and interact positively with the public.

Responsibilities

  • Identify key accounts within territory and establish an efficient route to grow and develop existing customers while seeking new partnerships.
  • Demonstrate and assist customers in developing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and tracking results of all in-salon promotions, programs, and concepts.
  • Determine customers' needs and offer products and services to meet those needs.
  • Communicate all sales initiatives through partnering with vendors to achieve corporate sales goals on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Acknowledge and respond to all email, text, and phone communication in a timely manner (24 Hours).
  • Analyze accounts to decide what brand support, education, and promotions are needed to grow within that salon.
  • Call on customers in person to execute established sales goals.
  • Comply with established procedures regarding the processing of returns, including pick-up and documentation.
  • Complete assignments and projects in a timely manner.
  • Work with all areas of business, including customer service, accounts receivable, and IT.
  • Prospect for new customers through cold calling, social media, and other digital outlets.
  • Manage all administrative aspects of the role, including daily order entry and maintenance of customer information in salesforce.com.
  • Utilize social media for communication, promotion, education, and product knowledge.
  • Conduct effective in-person and virtual product knowledge classes.
  • Communicate with the Manager regarding calls, visits, orders, and sales progress.
  • Be a subject matter expert on utilizing digital platforms & social media to grow the business.
  • Attend all meetings, functions, and events as established by the Company or Supervisor.
  • Support all new initiatives with a growth mindset and foster change management throughout the team.
  • Exhibit a desire to learn and grow, striving for continuous improvement.
  • Schedule and attend business development days (BDD) to increase product knowledge and develop professional vendor relationships.
  • Remain agile to changes in the market while building industry knowledge.
