Job Description: Position: Salesforce Architect Duration:12+ months Location: Hybrid, Cranston RI. Position Overview The Department of Administration (DOA), Division of Enterprise Technology Strategy and Services (ETSS), is seeking an experienced Salesforce Technical Architect to support the implementation of the Department of Labor and Training’s Workforce Regulation System and Certified Payroll Salesforce solution. This role is responsible for the technical leadership, architecture oversight, and successful delivery of Salesforce implementations, including deployments, maintenance, support operations, integrations, and data migration. The position collaborates closely with agency leadership, vendor implementors, and project teams to ensure adherence to ETSS standards, Salesforce best practices, and State policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in: Computer Science Information Management Systems Or a closely related field such as Business Management or Public Administration Coursework or training in specialized information technology and research is required.
  • 5+ years of Salesforce CRM experience as an Architect, or a combination of Architect and Implementor roles, preferably using Salesforce Public Sector Solutions.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the Salesforce product suite.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems architecture and scalable, performance-driven solution design.
  • Proven experience with large-scale data migrations and best practices.
  • Expertise in data sharing, visibility models, and platform architecture considerations.
  • Experience with authentication patterns (SAML, SSO, OAuth).
  • Knowledge of integration tools and experience integrating Salesforce with external business systems.
  • Strong background in environment management, release management, version control, and deployment strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to define current and future-state architectures, identify gaps, and deliver comprehensive solutions aligned with business outcomes.
  • Ability to identify and recommend best practices for integrations and toolsets.

Nice To Haves

  • Salesforce Certified Technical Architect (CTA) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and oversight of Salesforce implementation, deployments, maintenance, and support operations.
  • Review and validate proposed Salesforce technical architectures to ensure alignment with platform best practices, ETSS standards, and State policies.
  • Ensure solutions are architected to fully leverage Salesforce platform capabilities.
  • Participate in and lead technical design sessions; architect and document technical solutions aligned with agency business objectives.
  • Identify gaps or variances between business requirements and technical solutions.
  • Adhere to State-defined coding standards and recommend improvements where appropriate.
  • Lead and conduct code reviews to ensure solution quality, scalability, and adherence to approved design patterns.
  • Ensure best practices for environment management, release management, version control, and deployment methodologies.
  • Lead all data migration efforts, including: Migration from the current Informix system Design and development of file-sharing solutions with third-party systems Design and development of data-sharing solutions for information lookups Additional data sharing and migration requirements as identified
  • Ensure adherence to platform security standards, including TLS and SSL.
  • Apply best practices for authentication and authorization (SAML, SSO, OAuth).
  • Address data sharing, visibility, and access considerations within the Salesforce architecture.
