About The Position

The Assistant Store Manager at Home Outlet is responsible for managing a store that sells discount building materials. This role involves operating as a 'Working Manager,' which means actively participating in daily activities to ensure the store operates efficiently. The Assistant Store Manager will assist the Store Manager in training staff, interviewing and hiring candidates, and maintaining high levels of profitability and customer service while adhering to safety regulations and operating procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Knowledge of inventory software, order processing systems, payroll systems, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prepare work schedules and assign employees to specific duties.
• Coordinate, participate in, and supervise sales activities and promotions.
• Prepare merchandise displays and advertising, and take inventories.
• Reconcile cash with sales receipts and keep operating records.
• Prepare daily records of transactions for the Accounting Department.
• Ensure compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures.
• Resolve customer complaints and answer inquiries.
• Lock and secure the store.
