Our Sales and Marketing department is seeking field underwriting assistants to support underwriters with all aspects relating to new business, information gathering, pre and post binding and issuing transactions. This position is based at our Headquarters in Fairfield, Ohio.

  • Entering technical data into our policy administration systems
  • Assisting underwriters with information and workflow that includes providing back up support with email and telephone
  • Following up with agents by telephone and email to ensure outstanding underwriting and compliance information
  • Ordering underwriting reports such as Cognos, Aims Data Warehouse and SharePoint
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with an emphasis in customer service, including phone contact with agents
  • The ability to prioritize work
  • Proficient use of Microsoft® Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred, although training is available
  • The ability to follow instructions furnished in written, verbal or diagram form
  • The willingness to work and learn with a sense of urgency as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • The ability to think independently, quickly and effectively
  • Productive with light supervision
  • Comfortable with high volume workloads and production standards
  • Knowledge of commercial insurance rating process is helpful, but not required
  • The ability to navigate Web-based applications
  • Willing to complete Web-based research as needed
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Associate in insurance (AINS) certification is preferred, but completion within three years of start date if selected for the position is also acceptable
