About The Position

Our 12-month Sales Trainee Program (STP) offers a unique opportunity for early career professionals to kickstart a rewarding career path in sales within Ferguson, a Fortune 500 company. Since 1953, Ferguson has been a source of quality supplies for various industries, aiming to make customers’ complex projects simple, successful, and sustainable. The company operates with approximately 36,000 associates across 1,700 locations, providing best-in-class products, service, and capabilities across industries like Commercial/Mechanical, Facilities Supply, Fire and Fabrication, HVAC, Industrial, Residential Trade, Residential Building and Remodel, Waterworks, and Residential Digital Commerce. The program, starting June 8th, 2026, is designed to accelerate a career in sales through guided development and on-the-job learning. Participants will rotate through various training elements, gaining exposure to different business areas, shadowing key partners, and receiving formalized mentorship. The program includes workshops and learning opportunities to enhance sales skills and industry knowledge, shadowing experienced sales professionals to observe client interactions and sales strategies, and active participation in performance evaluations and feedback sessions for professional development. The Sales Trainee Program has locations nationwide. Upon successful completion, graduates will move into one of several sales destination roles, with final placement based on individual preferences and business needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; 1-3 years of experience accepted in lieu of bachelor’s degree
  • Exhibit a strong desire to be in a sales-focused role, and to learn about products, services, sales technologies, and processes at Ferguson
  • Innately self-motivated with a consistent track record of driving results
  • Possess a natural penchant for assisting customers and addressing their needs effectively
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible and open to change

  • Previous professional experiences or internships in Sales, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the sales team in various tasks such as outlining project tasks and timelines, prospecting for new leads, and handling customer inquiries
  • Assist in the development of sales proposals, contracts, and other documentation required for closing deals
  • Support sales projects and initiatives by coordinating tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables
  • Interact with customers to understand their needs, address inquiries, and provide information about products or services
  • Capture feedback from customers to identify areas for improvement and enhance the overall customer experience
  • Take the initiative to learn new sales techniques, tools, and technologies that can contribute to your success in the role
