About The Position

As a Sales Tax Technology Manager at Crowe LLP, you will lead client engagements focused on automating and improving sales and use tax (SUT) and value-added tax (VAT) processes. In this role, you’ll manage end-to-end implementations of leading tax automation platforms integrated with ERP and e-Commerce systems like Microsoft D365, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Acumatica, Shopify, and Stripe. You’ll serve as the primary liaison between clients, internal teams, and software vendors, translating complex tax requirements into scalable, automated solutions. You’ll guide testing and troubleshooting, provide training, and support business development efforts. A passion for process improvement, technical leadership, and exceptional client delivery is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA a plus)
  • ONESOURCE, CPA, CMI, or JD/LLM required; other relevant credentials will also be considered
  • 5+ years of sales and use tax experience in public accounting, consulting, or industry, with 2–3+ years focused on tax technology
  • Deep experience with at least two major tax automation platforms (e.g., Avalara, Vertex, ONESOURCE)
  • Strong familiarity with ERP environments including Microsoft D365, NetSuite, QuickBooks
  • Exceptional project management and leadership skills; ability to manage multiple clients and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Proficiency with reporting and transformation tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, and Tableau (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Lead sales and use tax (SUT) and VAT automation projects using platforms such as Avalara, Vertex, and ONESOURCE
  • Oversee tax engine configuration, ERP integration, data mapping, and testing within systems like Microsoft D365, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Acumatica, Shopify, and Stripe
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions with Tax, IT, Procurement, Master Data, and Sales teams to align technical and business requirements
  • Direct testing, troubleshooting, and error resolution efforts across ERP and tax platforms
  • Deliver documentation including business requirements, system design, configuration specs, and test plans
  • Present internal and client-facing training on indirect tax automation tools and processes
  • Mentor, guide, and review work for staff and senior associates on project teams
  • Participate in sales meetings, proposal development, and scoping sessions with prospective clients
  • Build and maintain internal and external relationships as a subject matter expert in indirect tax technology
  • Contribute to project billing, administrative tracking, and engagement profitability
  • Stay current on indirect tax automation trends, technologies, and regulatory changes
