About The Position

Mettler Toledo is seeking to hire a Sales Tax Manager for its Columbus, Ohio location. As a Sales Tax Manager you will manage the monthly, quarterly and annual U.S. Sales & Use Tax filings, including Canada VAT. You will also manage the state sales tax audits and provides guidance on policies and state regulations for mergers and acquisitions. You will assist with implementing and testing SAP and Vertex at the business units.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, a specialization in Tax is recommended.
• Master's degree in accounting is preferred.
• CPA preferred.
• 10+ years' experience in sales tax compliance and accounting matters, preferably with a publicly traded multi-national manufacturing company or Big Four or a combination of both.
• Must be highly proficient in Excel, Vertex Sales Tax Software and SAP.
• Multi-State Sales/Use Tax experience required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the preparation of sales tax returns, with assistance of Vertex, for the U.S. and Canada business units.
• Responsible for business units state sales tax audits.
• Review the tax report processed by Vertex to ensure that required changes are communicated before returns are finalized and funding is requested.
• Responsible for monthly account reconciliation of Sales & Use Tax, and VAT GL accounts for upload to Blackline.
• Provide guidance to Tax Analyst who facilitates customer exemption certificates in Vertex.
• Assist with evaluation of sales tax issues associated with acquisitions and divestitures.
• Assist with the resolution of sales tax disputes with customers/vendors.
