About The Position

This position assists with the administration of the Entertainment Industry Sales Tax Exemption program pursuant to s. 288.1258, F.S. This entails the following: Answer programmatic questions and provide applicant assistance prior to submission, including application renewal and recovery assistance Communicate with applicants regarding company and item eligibility, as well as certificate status Perform applicant due diligence: Research applicant company details via Sunbiz.org (or out-of-state equivalent) to determine company standing with the Division of Corporations Detailed review of prior applications to research previous project and budget information and determine prior eligibility Research applicant online presence (website, previous productions, etc.) Detailed review of business activities, including project type, filming locations, title, and distribution method, to ensure compliance with statutory requirements Detailed review of applicant financial and employment information to ensure proper submission Determine compliance with s. 288.071, F.S. Verify applicant production and financial information Assist with application approval/denial Provide certificates to applicants once issued by the Department of Revenue Assist with reporting data based on applicant records to the Executive Office of the Governor and the Legislature annually via the FloridaCommerce Annual Report Assist with reporting data based on applicant records to Agency leadership and the Legislature on a monthly basis Maintain Reel Scout Project Management Database: Sales Tax Exemption applications Project and contact information Client communicationReport production/project data on a regular basis Work independently to plan, organize, and coordinate tasks. Coordinate other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, or public-sector budgeting
  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools (sorting, filtering, formulas, pivot tables, forecasting)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-team coordination
  • Ability to analyze numerical data and identify discrepancies or trends
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized records
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Finance and Accounting, Budget and Program teams
  • Capacity to learn financial systems, reporting tools, and state processes quickly
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to develop working relationships with colleagues and partners
  • As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.
  • High school degree or GED
  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
  • Travel may be required up to 25% of the time
