The purpose of this position is to ensure Publix accurately reports, pays and accounts for sales tax collected from our customers and use tax due on taxable purchases. The sales and use tax remitted each month is approximately $70 million. In addition, the sales tax analyst is responsible for assisting the sales tax consultant when needed on special projects, ad hoc reporting and quarterly analysis. This position impacts all purchasing areas as well as the point-of-sale system in all Publix locations. Sales tax analysts are responsible for ensuring compliance with tax regulations and minimizing tax liabilities on all outbound and inbound transactions.
