About The Position

The Sales & Service Technician II (Field Install & Repair) is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing network facilities and associated apparatus from the station equipment to the line card. This role involves frequent travel and requires the technician to install and maintain inside wire for residential and business broadband services, including various networking equipment such as Fiber to the House, ONT, wireless routers, modems, and gateways. The technician will also perform cable construction and maintenance work, read service orders and trouble tickets, and conduct maintenance repairs on buried, aerial, and underground cable/fiber. Aerial work is required, which includes climbing poles and using bucket trucks. The technician must also support and promote company products and services, adapt to technological changes, and assist other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in telecommunications installation and maintenance.
  • Basic keyboard and software skills.
  • Must complete pole climbing certification (cannot exceed 275 lbs).
  • Ability to work independently and face-to-face with customers.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions and in isolated or confined spaces.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record; CDL preferred.
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, holidays, after hours, and call-outs.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain inside wire for residential/business broadband (HSI/Video) service.
  • Install networking equipment including Fiber to the House, ONT, wireless routers, modems, and gateways.
  • Perform cable construction and maintenance work associated with network facilities.
  • Read and understand service orders, trouble tickets, outside plant drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Perform maintenance repair and preventive maintenance on buried, aerial, and underground cable/fiber.
  • Conduct aerial work including pole climbing and using bucket trucks.
  • Navigate the web, set up business/residential computers, and demonstrate to customers.
  • Support and promote company products and services.
  • Mentor co-workers and follow through on assignments in a timely manner.
