The Sales Route Supervisor supervises the daily activities of delivery drivers and ensures DOT compliance and the efficiency of the department by actively engaging in the routing, standardization, and training of the drivers to aid in the distribution of all company products in a safe manner. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise, lead, and mentor Sales Route Drivers Provide assistance to the Distribution Manager as it relates to training, improving the efficiency of distribution operations, data evaluation, effective and efficient utilization of equipment, and route optimization. Responsibilities: Prioritize Sales Route Driver workload and assist the Distribution Manager in scheduling and assessing performance. Utilizing a continuous improvement mindset, identify and implement opportunities to improve processes. Comply with and enforce all company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations. Use and enforce the use of all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations. Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with the supply chain leadership team. Partner with all functional departments to ensure meeting business unit and company safety, service, cost, and people goals. Qualifications and Experience: Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately record data required. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts, as required. Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to pass a D.O.T. Physical, background and Drug Screen, and clearinghouse. Minimum Age: 21, as per Federal D.O.T. regulations Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to problem-solving are required. Must exhibit strong leadership skills and the ability to train, mentor, and develop team members. Must be able to work in hot and cold climates, both indoors and outdoors, and on refrigerated trucks. Open to relocating or transferring to other locations as dictated by the operational requirements of the business. Must be able to work weekends and Holidays Must have a working knowledge of DOT rules and regulations. Might be asked to work different shifts 1st 2nd or 3rd based on business needs. Might be asked to assist other locations within the business unit. Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Class A or B commercial driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement required (must also possess a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with FMCSA Part 391.41 prior to operating a commercial motor vehicle for Hiland Dairy Foods) Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required, or Four years prior supervisory experience. Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodology, highly preferred Physical Demand/Working Conditions: Must be able to frequently stand, walk, climb, Bend, Twist, Push/Pull reach at, above and below shoulder. Lift/Carry/ Lower: 30-45 lbs 70% and 45-60 lbs 30 % continuous. Repetition Hand/Wrist: Simple Grasping and Firm Grasping 70 % continuous. Required to work in very hot (100°+) and very cool (less than 32°), and humid environments throughout the year. Exposed to noise and vibration 100%. Required to run routes as required by business needs and work outside, regardless of the conditions.
