Palmer Food Services is seeking a District Sales Representative to execute the Account Management Program, which includes sales planning, controls, and sales reports. The role involves maintaining an account management binder, managing accounts in accordance with company policies, and developing a thorough understanding of product lines to effectively convey benefits to customers. The position requires a personal planning calendar to manage time effectively, with 80% of time spent on direct sales in the field, 10% on phone sales, and 10% on administrative tasks. The District Sales Representative will also be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining regular contact with key accounts while initiating cold calls to explore new opportunities. The role includes attending sales meetings and trade shows, managing accounts receivable collections, and collaborating with customer service personnel as needed. Overnight travel is required about 5% of the time for trainings and trade shows.

  • Executes the Account Management Program including sales planning, controls, and sales reports.
  • Establishes a personal planning calendar to manage time effectively: 80% direct sales, 10% phone sales, 10% administrative tasks.
  • Develops a complete understanding of product lines and conveys this knowledge to customers.
  • Works through company channels to complete quotes and orders, learning company procedures regarding pricing, purchasing, credit, and delivery.
  • Plans weekly activities with the District Sales Manager to maintain core accounts and penetrate target accounts.
  • Makes customer calls and performs 'Ride-withs' for training and selling key accounts.
  • Prepares unit and dollar forecasts upon request with assumptions on activities to achieve forecasts.
  • Attends sales meetings, forums, and trade shows as requested, participating in company promotions and contests.
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable collections in assigned area and schedules biweekly meetings with the Credit Department.
  • Assists Customer Service personnel as workload requires.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Company management.
  • 3+ years outside sales experience, preferably in a business-to-business sales organization.
  • High school diploma or GED, with some college experience preferred but not required.
  • Food service or culinary experience is required.
  • Clean driving record and a valid Driver license.
  • Ability to make strong and effective one-on-one sales presentations.
  • Ability to maximize results by systematically managing an account plan.
