About The Position

Apex is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager. The Sales Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and executing sales strategies to drive revenue growth within the waste and recycling industry. This role oversees a team of sales representatives, builds strong relationships with commercial, residential and industrial customers, and ensures sales activities align with company goals, pricing strategies, and service capabilities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of sales experience, preferably in the waste, recycling, or environmental services industry
  • 2+ years of sales management or leadership experience
  • Strong understanding of waste industry pricing, contracts, and service models
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling commercial and industrial waste services
  • Knowledge of routing, hauling, and operational constraints
  • CRM experience (Salesforce or similar platforms)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sales plans to achieve revenue, margin, and growth targets
  • Lead, coach, and motivate a team of sales representatives to consistently meet or exceed goals
  • Establish sales metrics, track performance, and provide regular reporting to senior leadership
  • Identify and pursue new commercial, industrial, and municipal sales opportunities
  • Manage key accounts and negotiate service agreements, renewals, and pricing
  • Collaborate with operations and customer service to ensure smooth onboarding and retention
  • Stay informed on waste industry trends, regulations, competitors, and pricing structures
  • Ensure sales proposals align with operational capabilities, routing efficiency, and compliance requirements
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new sales team members
  • Conduct regular ride-alongs, performance reviews, and coaching sessions
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and customer focus
  • Resolve escalated customer issues related to service, pricing, or contracts
  • Ensure long-term customer satisfaction and retention through proactive relationship management
