About The Position

The Group Sales Manager role is to solicit business that enables the hotel to meet and/or exceed revenue goals in rooms and food and beverage. This position involves understanding market opportunities and driving revenue through various sales strategies, including telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site visits, and written communication. The role requires account management using DELPHI + sales/account management software, prospecting for new business, and maximizing revenue by upselling packages. The Group Sales Manager will also build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Previous hotel sales and operations experience.
  • Sales and operations background.
  • Ability to travel and work independently.
  • Capable of planning and executing sales trips.
  • Professional appearance & demeanor.
  • Strong client/guest service skills.
  • Working knowledge of reservations and sales & catering systems.
  • Ability to portray the hotel as unique.
  • Ability to make verbal and written presentations.
  • Pre-opening sales and operations experience.
  • Knowledge of Delphi, Opera, and Microsoft Office software.
  • Familiar with travel throughout key US cities.
  • Knowledge of high-end industry publications and marketing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals.
  • Prepare correspondence to group accounts in a timely manner.
  • Account management using DELPHI + sales/account management software.
  • Prospect for new business, creating new leads and awareness of the hotel.
  • Travel to strategic trade shows and customer events.
  • Target accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation.
  • Respond to and manage larger and more complex incoming opportunities.
  • Develop effective sales plans and actions.
  • Work with partners to develop creative ideas and proposals for events.
  • Maximize revenue by upselling packages.
  • Understand the overall market, competitors’ strengths and weaknesses.
  • Close the best opportunities based on market conditions.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers.
  • Provide excellent customer sales service to grow share of the account.
  • Utilize intranet for resources, templates, and information.
  • Participate in site visits.
  • Develop and facilitate execution of contracts as required.
  • Execute and support the operational aspects of business booked.
  • Work with Director of Sales and other team members to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Coordinate all details of bookings with the assistance of Sales Assistant.
  • Achieve monthly and annual quotas.
  • Manage relationships with accounts and ensure accurate information in the database.
