About The Position

The Electric Power Generation (EPG) Sales Manager will be responsible for leading a team of sales professionals to promote & sell Caterpillar stationary diesel & gaseous fueled standby generator sets and ancillary systems. The Sales Manager will report directly to the General Manager, Electric Power.

Requirements

  • Proven sales professional in the Northeastern US Electric Power Generation marketplace.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a dynamic team.
  • Thorough understanding of the needs of the marketplace – regional trends, competitive strategies, etc.
  • Firsthand experience working with the regional general and electrical contractor customer base.
  • Must reside within commuting distance to Milford, MA and/or Londonderry, NH.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or higher Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering; equivalent standby electric power generation industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies to increase sales volume and profitability across the Northeast.
  • Provide mentorship to the sales team, teaching the key elements of success:
  • Relationship building.
  • Responsiveness to customers’ needs.
  • Product & System knowledge.
  • Quote accuracy leading to greater profitability.
  • Efficient and effective use of all available technology (CRM, ERP, CAT pricing tool).
  • Marketing – work with the Marketing Department to promote the Caterpillar product line and Milton CAT’s Parts/Service capabilities.
  • Set and monitor goals for Sales Reps – sales volume, profitability, opportunity management, account management.
  • Determine the staffing needs of the department based upon territory management, financial results, and business plan goals.
  • Monitor inventory levels and provide feedback to the Power Systems Operations Manager on nodes and features that should be focused on.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to enhance knowledge sharing between the Sales & Project Management teams.
  • Actively engage in Caterpillar Dealer Advisory Teams, new product definition efforts, etc.
