About The Position

As a Sales Manager for Bay Laurel Catering at the University of Washington, you will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of the catering sales team. This position requires a strong focus on collaboration with both operations and culinary management teams to ensure seamless and high-quality service for catering clients and guests. You will be responsible for overseeing the catering sales staff, maintaining team-related revenue goals, and ensuring that business is turned over properly and in a timely manner for effective service delivery. Your role will involve targeting group and catering accounts with a heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation, as well as conducting campus site visits with clients and prospective clients to arrange planning meetings with representatives of other campus facilities as necessary. In addition to leadership responsibilities, you will drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience, which is essential for driving sales growth. You will serve as a key departmental resource for prospective catering and conference customers, anticipating their needs and facilitating the acquisition of additional resources and services. Your duties will also include attending events to ensure compliance with event contracts, advising customers on improvements for ongoing events, and coordinating services with HFS staff, the community, and vendors. Effective communication of critical event information to culinary and operations teams is crucial for successful event execution, as you will oversee catering services for conferences ranging from 10 to 2000 guests. Fiscal management is another key aspect of your role, where you will proactively solicit and manage group and catering opportunities with significant revenue potential. You will negotiate with clients on catering services, collaborate with culinary and operations teams to monitor resource usage, and process billing for events. Additionally, you will prepare proposals for potential catered events and wedding receptions, ensuring that all aspects of the catering service are managed effectively. As a Sales Manager, you will also oversee the CBORD FSS functions, ensuring that staff are trained on the system and using reporting functions to monitor unit performance. You will be responsible for interviewing and selecting staff, supervising their work, and providing guidance on professional development. Engaging in performance management and conducting performance appraisals will also be part of your responsibilities. This position requires supervision of at least two full-time equivalents (FTE) to maintain professional staff exemption and compensation.
