About The Position

As a Sales Engineer, you will be the technical bridge between customers, engineering, and sales. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of design engineering and customer engagement. You will develop tailored switchgear solutions, influence design decisions, and partner with consulting engineers, power utility companies, distributors, contractors, and owner/developers to ensure Power Design delivers value-driven outcomes. Your work will drive new business opportunities, support ongoing projects, and ensure our customers experience the best-in-class service and innovation that defines Power Design. This role combines hands-on design expertise, technical consultation, and relationship-building to grow our presence in the switchgear space.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering – or equivalent technical experience in power distribution or related field.
  • Technical sales or design engineering experience within power distribution, switchgear, or related electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of LV/MV switchgear, panelboards, distribution systems, and applicable industry standards.
  • Proficiency with design/engineering tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel 30–50% to support customer engagements, jobsite visits, and industry events.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience collaborating directly with electrical contractors, project managers, or field service teams.
  • Exposure to specialized medium and low voltage distribution applications.
  • Background in sales strategy, account management, and technical solution delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical sales efforts for switchgear solutions, from concept to execution, ensuring customer requirements are met.
  • Partner with consulting engineers, power utility companies, distributors, contractors, and owner/developers to deliver customized solutions aligned with project specifications.
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical layouts, and system requirements to propose optimized designs.
  • Provide technical training, product knowledge, and design guidance to customers and internal teams.
  • Support R&D initiatives, technical documentation, and product development activities for the LFG division.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for medium and low voltage electrical distribution equipment including integration with switchboards, panelboards, transformers, and other distribution solutions.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with senior management at key customer accounts and manufacturing partners.
  • Represent Power Design at industry events, trade shows, and technical seminars.
