About The Position

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a finance-related field is preferred, but 8 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Broad knowledge of materials (HRS/CRS and SST, AL) and fabrication processes (laser and plasma cutting, bending, welding, powder coating and assembly, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience working in a metal manufacturing shop is preferred.
  • Manufacturing environment with intermittent noise and long periods of standing in a warehouse-type physical space, with exposure to noise and dust in hot and cold climates.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. (if on-site, but also rare)
  • Ability to stand, bend, squat, twist, and kneel.
  • Normal vision (with or without corrective lenses) and normal hearing (with or without corrective hearing aids).
  • Must have good hand and eye coordination.
  • Must wear steel-toed shoes.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and efficiently estimate complex Class 1 (moderate to complex engineering design) metal manufacturing products and designs, minimizing errors.
  • Support/assist the Junior Estimator with Class 2 & 3 products (minimal engineering design and limited complexity)
  • Revamp and improve the efficiency of the quoting process.
  • Develop and implement SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and WIs (Work Instructions) for Class 1 quoting.
  • Integrate machine nesting to expedite ROM (Rough Order of Magnitude) pricing.
  • Ensure accuracy in quoting and conduct peer reviews of quotes.
  • Engage in customer-facing interactions for high-profile quoting jobs.
  • Maintain good customer relations and collaborate effectively with teams.
  • Adapt quickly and communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Work cohesively with production floor work centers at both metal shops.
  • Analyze engineering CAD and drawings.
  • Understand and apply lean manufacturing and root cause analysis (RCA) processes.
  • Familiarize quickly with all MFP capabilities.
  • Create forms and templates to streamline the quoting process.
  • Maintain 7S in the department.
  • Obeying all company, OSHA, and other state and federal agencies’ safety regulations.
