About the position

This role is part of VIU by HUB, HUB’s modern digital insurance platform, which is transforming the way consumers compare, customize, and purchase personal insurance. As a Sales Engineer within VIU by HUB, you will help drive the growth of our digital brokerage, supporting strategic partnerships and enabling a seamless, technology-driven insurance experience. This position reports into Chicago and can be based anywhere in the U.S. We are seeking a Sales Engineer to join our growing team, reporting to the Sales Engineering Lead, as we continue scaling our Transactional Lines business. This role will play a critical part in supporting and expanding our strategic partnerships, ensuring seamless integrations, and driving product adoption across personal insurance solutions. As a trusted technical advisor, the Sales Engineer will collaborate closely with Business Development Representatives, Customer Success Managers, Product Owners, Software Developers, Solutions Engineers, Architects, Call Center Operations, QA Engineers, Product Designers, IT, Security, and Infrastructure teams. This role demands a balance of technical expertise and consultative solutioning to support our partners effectively while aligning with broader business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Create compelling product demonstrations, bringing the VIU platform to life for prospects and partners by showcasing its capabilities and value in real-world scenarios.
  • Support the Partner Activation team, ensuring a seamless onboarding process for new partners and optimizing activation workflows.
  • Lead and support high-performing partnerships, ensuring a smooth activation process and ongoing technical engagement.
  • Solution across multiple platforms and integration methods, working with partners to optimize our partnership.
  • Champion a 21st-century digital brokerage experience, focusing on frictionless quoting, enhanced consumer experiences, and a strategic approach to digital distribution.
  • Translate business requirements into technical requirements and implementation details.
  • Support the pre-sales process for HUB’s strategic partner framework.
  • Integration with third-party systems to enable use cases that power business solutions.
  • Work closely with product and developers to design integrations with strategic partner systems.
  • Advise clients on best technical practices and architectural designs for integrating with VIU by HUB’s REST APIs.
  • Provide efficient and accurate support to clients for integrating with Hub’s strategic partner framework.
  • Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks (technical, people and timelines) at multiple levels.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
  • Explore new technical innovations in the application development to further improve performance and modularity.
  • Lead engagements that help to understand current state of strategic partner technical infrastructure, build processes, security needs, etc.
  • Work in a collaborative manner with strategic partner technical teams to define technical approaches to implementing designed solutions.
  • Implement and improve technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in web and server-side application development using Python, Java, Go, C/C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience building full-stack applications and working with integrations, data, and system architectures.
  • Strong foundation in computer science principles, including data structures, algorithms, automated testing, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with CX journey mapping and understanding customer experience strategies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business and technical teams, translating complex technical issues for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills with a proactive approach.
  • Ability to plan, forecast, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum teams with a solid understanding of SDLC and development/testing methodologies.
  • Effective time management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and explore new technical innovations to improve performance and modularity.
  • Experience leading technical discovery and solutioning for strategic partner integrations, including architecture, data flows, security, and implementation strategies.
  • Strong documentation skills to enhance technical clarity and knowledge-sharing.
