Position Summary: Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Sales Development Representative to join our dynamic Sales Operations team. The Sales Development Representative contributes to our mission by collaborating with and supporting Business Development Directors with consistently developing and closing new and repeat business from customer and prospect accounts in an assigned territory. A Day in the Life of a Sales Development Representative at Discovery Life Sciences: Follow-up on active opportunities and account updates for your assigned Business Development Directors. Collaborate cross-functionally with Feasibility, Proposals, and Marketing teams to submit cases, build accurate quotes, and advance client projects. Keep deals moving forward by setting clear next steps, documenting client feedback in Salesforce, and supporting the close of repeat and new business.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of biotech and/or sales experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate directly with potential clients via email, phone, and virtual meetings
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with clients and prospects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams
  • Salesforce.com experience is desirable but not required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to respond to customer needs
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Support Business Development (BD) Directors within the Services team to proactively execute performance objectives, financial targets and critical milestones
  • Partner with BD Directors to productively manage an opportunity pipeline and Feasibility and Proposal case queues with updated next steps and feedback from customers
  • Proactively support assigned BDDs territory needs with respect to updating opportunity funnel, creating new opportunities, coverage for BDD while on PTO or open territory coverage if needed
  • Submit cases to feasibility and assist with the feasibility of an opportunity; create sales quotes, and close out purchase orders in Salesforce as the CRM
  • Develop and maintain relations with clients - communicate core competencies and ensure research needs are being met by engaging proper teams within the company to advance discussions
  • Present and help evaluate the workability of client projects with Discovery Life Sciences' subject matter experts, proposals and legal contracting teams
  • Generate sales pipeline reports, account briefings, and other reports as needed
  • Consistently advance calls and win business by setting clear next steps and properly executing those steps
  • Work with Marketing and Feasibility to maximize sales success
  • Report market intel back to team (Management, Business Development, Marketing, etc.) by documenting sales calls and client feedback
  • Become confident in speaking to Discovery service offerings with potential client
