About The Position

The Sales Desk Manager plays a critical leadership role within the dealership, overseeing the daily operations of the sales floor and ensuring that all deals are structured profitably, efficiently, and in compliance with dealership policies and manufacturer guidelines. This individual supports and guides the sales team in closing deals, maintains strong relationships with lenders, and ensures an exceptional customer buying experience from negotiation to delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in automotive sales, including at least 1–2 years in a leadership or desk management role.
  • Proven ability to structure and close profitable deals in both new and used car departments.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive financing, leasing, and F&I procedures.
  • Proficiency in dealership CRM and DMS systems (e.g., DealerTrack)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

  • Desk and structure car deals to maximize gross profit while maintaining customer satisfaction and compliance standards.
  • Review and approve all sales transactions prior to final submission to the finance department.
  • Monitor daily sales performance, track closing ratios, and support sales consultants in achieving monthly targets.
  • Ensure all required documents are accurately completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with F&I (Finance & Insurance) and inventory management to ensure smooth workflow and deal handoff.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate sales consultants to meet and exceed individual and team goals.
  • Lead daily sales meetings, training sessions, and performance reviews.
  • Foster a positive, customer-focused, and high-performance sales culture.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing professional development of sales staff.
  • Oversee customer interactions to ensure a professional and seamless buying process.
  • Resolve escalated customer issues quickly and effectively.
  • Maintain dealership standards of excellence in service, transparency, and ethical conduct.
  • Manage sales reports, performance metrics, and profitability tracking for the sales department.
  • Work closely with the accounting office to ensure deal accuracy and timely funding.
  • Stay current with manufacturer incentives, programs, and inventory to guide deal structuring and pricing strategies.
