The Sales Consultant position at Sysco is a vital role within the Sysco Specialty Meat Group (SSMG), focused on achieving a sales plan assigned to the individual. This position is responsible for maximizing sales profitability, growth, and account penetration within an assigned territory. The Sales Consultant will effectively sell the company's products by promoting and securing orders from both existing and prospective customers through a relationship-driven approach. The role involves demonstrating products and services to customers, assisting them in selecting the best options suited to their needs, and ensuring customer satisfaction through timely responses to their problems and needs. In this role, the Sales Consultant will establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with current and prospective customers to generate new business for SSMG's products and services. This includes making in-person visits and presentations, taking customer orders while keeping SSMG goals in mind, and participating in the review and oversight of customer orders in collaboration with inside sales partners. The consultant will also analyze daily and weekly sales and margin reports to identify improvement opportunities and keep abreast of market conditions, competitive activities, and trends in the industry. The position requires participation in training and customer events organized by SSMG, as well as coordination with accounts payable contacts at each account to ensure smooth communication and operations. The Sales Consultant will be expected to implement strategies to control days sales outstanding (DSOs) and maintain accurate customer profiles and pricing to minimize costly credits and returns.
