About The Position

The Sales Clerk Donation Processor is responsible for performing retail sales functions, accepting merchandise donations, and selecting and pricing donated goods and textiles for sale in retail stores, adhering to the Retail Procedures Manual. Key aspects of the role include providing friendly and professional customer service, operating a cash register accurately, and inspecting various donated items such as textiles, furniture, appliances, and household wares to determine their saleability and ensure quality control. The position also involves stock duties like sorting, hanging garments, stocking shelves, maintaining displays, and completing assigned reports. The role requires maintaining premises in compliance with safety and housekeeping practices, including some outdoor work, and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. A flexible schedule is necessary to meet store needs.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Experience in retail sales performing cashiering, customer services, and shipping/receiving is preferred.
  • Box Truck experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service in a friendly and professional manner (greeting, selling, telephone, etc.)
  • Greet customers and maintain a cheerful and pleasant disposition when servicing customers.
  • Maintain a superior level of customer service to meet agency standards.
  • Loads and sorts materials on the trailer according to instructions.
  • Maintains premises in compliance with Agency safety and housekeeping practices.
  • Operate cash register accurately and efficiently (correct change, receipts, checks, charges, discounts, etc.)
  • Inspect textiles, furniture, appliances, small household wares, novelty items, books, toys, decorations, and sporting goods to determine saleability.
  • Receive and handle donated goods from donors.
  • Perform stock duties such as sorting and hanging garments, placing them in the appropriate rack, and keeping the pulling system up to date.
  • Perform stock duties such as stocking shelves and maintaining displays.
  • Ensure Goodwill quality control standards are met (textiles, misc., and furniture).
  • Test electrical appliances to determine safe operations.
  • Complete reports accurately as assigned (donation counts, readings, daily business statements, deposits, and cash drawer).
  • Price merchandise according to prescribed criteria.
  • Prepare textiles and goods for resale.
  • Disinfect upholstered materials using Steri-Fab.
  • Follow the dress code as set by Goodwill and display a professional image and attitude.
  • Performs any additional duties as assigned by Manager, Assistant or Supervisor and maintains an enthusiastic and helpful attitude.
  • Must work a flexible schedule to comply with the needs of the store.
  • Must maintain the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain the same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
