About The Position

The Sales Associate is a driven-individual who is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service. They play an integral part in keeping our stores clean, organized and shoppable for our customers. The Sales Associate thinks and behaves in alignment with HouseMart’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Requirements

  • Flexible Schedule: Willing to work a flexible schedule based on business needs (Days, Nights, Weekends, and Holidays included).
  • Strong Communication: Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to openly and effectively communicate with store management.
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to work with fellow team members, store management, and customers, demonstrating a sense of collaboration.
  • Organized and Detail-Oriented: Ability to pay close alertness and attention to detail. Basic mathematical skills to calculate various functions in your everyday work (Ex. pricing, discounts, and calculating yardage, square footage etc.).
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to work under pressure, demonstrate effective decision-making, and exercise sound judgement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • General knowledge and experience with computer systems and two-way radios.
  • Ability to stand for durations of up to 8 hours at a time.
  • Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 60lbs of material, in addition to lifting and maneuvering up to 100lbs. of merchandise using a hand truck, on occasion.
  • Mobility to reach, twist, turn, crouch, grasp, squeeze, and perform other potentially strenuous activity.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a cash register, computer, calculator, and other miscellaneous hand tools.
  • May be certified to operate a forklift, as assigned.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer Service, Retail, and Cash Handling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and welcomes every customer, providing them with personalized assistance by suggesting products and accompanying them to merchandise locations.
  • Assists in setting up and breaking down regular, seasonal, and/or promotional displays according to proper schematics and established plan-o-grams. Regularly organizes and maintains presentation of merchandise.
  • Cultivates customer loyalty through suggestive selling and promoting alternative and/or relevant products to assist them with their projects. Continually educates themselves and retains knowledge on store products, for current and advertised items.
  • Able to perform weekly physical counts to maintain accurate inventory of product, as assigned.
  • Works in a safe manner and actively practices prevention methods to protect yourself and others, minimizing injury or loss.
