About The Position

This position manages intake, sorting, merchandising, and sale of donated items. It is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment in the store and sorting areas, managing checkouts, and handling end-of-day totals. The role also involves overseeing volunteers. Key responsibilities include ensuring all donated items are processed and placed on the sales floor in a timely and organized manner to maximize availability and sales, maintaining store readiness, and ensuring the store is open and fully operational during designated business hours. The Sales Associate will assist and support volunteers, fostering a positive, cooperative, and rewarding volunteer experience, and promoting a team-oriented environment. Professionalism, empathy, and courtesy are required in all interactions with customers, callers, donors, and team members, representing Healing Transitions with integrity and a commitment to service excellence. The role also requires compliance with all Healing Transitions policies, procedures, and operational guidelines, and performing other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and daily operations of the store.

Requirements

  • Completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience in cashier duties and money handling.
  • Minimum of 6 months of sustained recovery and demonstrated knowledge of recovery principles.
  • Negative pre-employment drug test.
  • Adherence to company policy which prohibits the misuse of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and other Office applications).
  • Effectively prioritizes tasks, manages multiple responsibilities, and maintains accurate records in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to safely lift and carry items weighing between 30 to 50 pounds as needed for program operations or supply management.
  • Provides excellent service through clear, respectful, and empathetic communication with participants, staff, and community partners.
  • Proactively identifies needs and takes appropriate action without being prompted, contributing to continuous improvement and team efficiency.
  • Maintains emotional resilience and practices appropriate self-care to manage stress and sustain long-term effectiveness in a high-demand environment.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from participants, or members of the community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Required to travel to appropriate locations for mandatory meetings and/or trainings.
