About The Position

The Sales Associate in the Food Section plays a key role in maintaining an organized and customer-friendly environment within the retail setting. This position involves stocking merchandise, assisting customers, ensuring product presentation, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the store. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, excellent customer service skills, detail-oriented and the ability to work in a team.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and previous retail or customer service experience preferred specifically in a grocery setting; or any equivalent combination of formal training and/or experience which provided the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities thereof.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business data and effectively respond to the data.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from vendors, customers, employees, or others involved or associated in the general merchandise section function.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts relevant to the role such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • A valid health certificate or ability to obtain a certificate.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers, staff, and management.
  • Dedication to providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues effectively ensuring “Customers matters most.”

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity POS systems and basic computer skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist customers in locating products and provide information about various items in the store.
  • Provide product knowledge, answer inquires, and offer recommendations to customers.
  • Stock shelves, rotate merchandise, and ensure proper product placement and organization.
  • Actively engage customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Maintain a neat and organized sales floor by restocking shelves and arranging displays.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals, maintain a positive store environment and to ensure efficient store operations.
  • Receive, unload, and verify deliveries, checking for accuracy and quality.
  • Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and reporting discrepancies.
  • Uphold company standards for customer service excellence and product presentation.
  • Follow proper safety and sanitation procedures in handling food products.
  • Other duties as instructed or assigned.
