The position involves assisting and serving customers with the location, selection, and purchase of merchandise, emphasizing customer courtesy. Responsibilities include merchandising, display, and maintaining the appearance of assigned areas. The employee will ensure items are properly marked, check merchandise, ring sales on the cash register, receive payments, make change, bag or wrap merchandise, and complete related sales records. Additional tasks include preparing written sales slips, verifying personal checks and credit cards, and managing an assigned change fund. The employee will assist in inventories and ensure proper accountability and security of assigned areas, advising supervisors of damages, out-of-stock, and slow-moving merchandise. The role may also involve monitoring dressing rooms, accepting merchandise sales for layaway and Deferred Payment Plan, performing general housekeeping duties, sorting and replenishing merchandise, and maintaining a preferred customer list to notify customers of new merchandise. A strong emphasis is placed on providing World Class Customer Service, which includes positive communication, problem-solving, and ensuring customer satisfaction. Adherence to safety regulations and standards is required, including the use of safety equipment and reporting workplace hazards. The employee is expected to support the principles of the EEO program and prevent sexual harassment, performing other related duties as assigned.
