About The Position

The Sales Associate at the Patuxent River MiniMart is responsible for selling general merchandise to customers using professional selling techniques. The role involves working as part of a sales team to provide exceptional service that anticipates and exceeds customer expectations. The associate will assist in the full operation of the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar, which includes tasks such as opening and closing the bar, preparing and displaying goods, replenishing stock, and cleaning stations and equipment as necessary.

Requirements

• No experience required.
• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets and engages customers in conversation to provide sales-related assistance.
• Assists customers in selecting merchandise and suggests additional items.
• Explains product warranties, coverage, benefits, and prices to customers.
• Interacts with customers and coworkers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintains knowledge of merchandise, including setup, use, care, and characteristics.
• Ensures assigned areas are fully stocked and merchandise is neatly arranged.
• Communicates with supervisors regarding stock and customer preferences.
• Completes sales transactions efficiently and thanks customers for their patronage.
• Performs cash register transactions accurately.
• Advises customers of upcoming sales events and available services.
• Handles customer returns and problems tactfully and efficiently.
• Maintains a high level of awareness to deter theft.
• Unpacks, stages, and moves merchandise as assigned.
• Completes paperwork associated with merchandise movement and cash register operation.
• Participates in commission and gainsharing sales incentive programs.
• Lifts up to 25 lbs. as required for job duties.
• Opens and closes the Food and Beverage Convenience Bar.
• Monitors and maintains equipment and product quality.
• Attends food safety training sessions as required.
