We are looking for a Sales Applications Engineer to promote the technical function of the company both internally and externally to aide in establishing new customers and delivering technical services. Primarily focused on the new business development of Windings which includes working with both new and existing customers to develop custom solutions based on the company’s expertise in stator, rotor, motor, and generator manufacturing. This position will develop new customers, support and expand existing customer accounts, and generate quotes and proposals for customers and prospects that promote the company goals for long-term growth and profitability. Primary responsibilities include cost analysis and rollup, helping customers define technical needs, and generating quotes. What you will do... Prepare written sales quotations for existing customers, including parts that do not require engineering review, as well as statements of work and proposals for parts that do require engineering review. Ensure all quotations and proposals clearly define the products and services offered and align with company gross margin expectations, including: pricing for product, tooling, and engineering; engineering specifications and assumptions; and, estimated delivery timelines Interface with customers and apply the technical understanding of company resources into solutions which are appropriate for client needs. Identify gaps in capability or technical competency. Support the Business Development Team with technical contact to support engagement with customers and prospects during their idea generation phase and properly represent the differentiating value provided by the company Collaborate with internal engineering to understand newly developed capabilities, competencies, and skills which can be used to further the technical offerings to clients and prospects Solicit quotes from suppliers on a limited basis Lead efforts to implement company best practices and advise internal resources of critical client needs React and communicate to internal and external customers regarding changes in technical requirements or adjustments in project scope Participate in the company’s sales process and operating management system. Understand and apply design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA) analysis techniques Work closely with the operations and engineering teams to Identify opportunities to reduce cost and lead times Develop proficiency with Windings’ CRM software, ensuring accurate and complete information is captured Ensure all activities are in compliance with all Quality System Requirements

Requirements

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite required
  • Multi-level print reading and technical competence

  • Must exhibit a curious, positive, enthusiastic, and team-oriented approach in addition to the ability to be self-motivated when needed
  • Position may require up to 5% travel to customers and trade shows/conferences to build relationships, network, develop, and promote the company
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another related technical field required. Experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing or design engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer practical experience in the electric motor assembly and/or component manufacturing industry
  • Experience in cost estimating related to manufacturing and or engineering services contracts preferred
  • Experience in sales related to a manufacturing and/or engineering services environment preferred
  • Experience in technical writing for proposals/quotations or specifications related to product design and testing
