About The Position

Vision Bioenergy Oilseeds (VBO) is a agricultural joint venture with the mission of developing, growing and marketing high quality oilseed oil for use in the production of biofuels to help create a cleaner, more sustainable future. We operate a research & development center and processing facility in Nampa, Idaho. We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Sales Agronomist to join our team, focusing on the development and expansion of camelina production in Central Montana. This role plays a critical role in helping growers adopt camelina while building a reliable supply chain for downstream markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Plant Science, or a related field.
  • 3 - 7 years experience in agronomy, seed sales, crop consulting, or specialty crop development. Experience with oilseed crops or rotational crops is preferred.
  • Proven experience in relationship-based agricultural sales.
  • Strong understanding of crop production systems in dryland and/or irrigated systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with growers and channel partners.
  • Ability to analyze agronomic data and provide practical, actionable recommendations.
  • Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license (and ability to meet insurability requirements) and willingness to travel frequently within assigned regions.
  • Comfortable working in a startup or emerging crop environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with oilseed crops or rotational crops is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand camelina production acreage by engaging directly with growers, agronomists, and channel partners.
  • Provide technical agronomic support to farmers, including guidance on crop establishment, management, and performance optimization.
  • Assist farmers in integrating camelina into existing crop rotations to enhance productivity and sustainability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, offering expert advice on best practices for camelina cultivation and long-term crop adoption.
  • Meet or exceed company acreage targets through proactive outreach and relationship management.
  • Represent the company at grower meetings, field demonstrations, and trade shows.
  • Support growers through the full season from pre-plant through harvest.
  • Monitor crop progress and troubleshoot issues to ensure successful crop establishment and performance.
  • Collect field data to improve agronomic recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop educational materials, training sessions, and promotional activities related to camelina production.
