About The Position

The Associate Delivery Driver position is designed for individuals with less than one year of experience, providing them with the opportunity to enter a Driver Training Program. This role involves training and coaching to perform driver duties, allowing trainees to gain the necessary experience to qualify for a professional driver position. The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule with weekends and holidays off, focusing on local routes in Northern Virginia and ensuring safe and efficient delivery of products to customers.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Learner's Permit, or equivalent driving experience in the military.
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record in compliance with DOT requirements.
  • Must agree to satisfactorily complete the company's Driver Training Program.
  • Must be able to lift products from 25 lbs. to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to pass a post-offer background check, DOT Physical, and drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Customer service experience.
  • Experience with a handheld ordering device and working in a multi-temperature environment.
  • Stocking, product handling, local delivery, or unloading experience.
  • Foodservice distribution, grocery store, or beverage delivery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the company's Driver Training Program satisfactorily.
  • Safely and professionally operate a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Use Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and/or Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as electric pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Maneuver vehicle and equipment in congested areas with limited space and potential obstacles.
  • Unload and deliver products to customers using various methodologies including manual conveyors, carts, or pallets in multi-temperature environments.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to consumers and store personnel.
  • Complete delivery and pick-up paperwork.
  • Pick up returned products as required.
  • Collect company assets including payments, carts, and pallets.
  • Complete pre-trip, in-route, and post-trip inspections of equipment and vehicle.
  • Complete company training and certifications as required.
  • Effectively communicate and maintain contact with shift supervisor, dispatch, and co-workers.
  • Perform other projects or duties as assigned.
