About The Position

The Saints Shop Student Assistant performs daily sales and operational duties that ensure customers have a pleasant shopping experience. In addition to operating the Point of Sale system as a cashier, they provide excellent customer service, share apparel and product knowledge, receive and process merchandise shipments, organize apparel and general merchandise, and maintain the attractiveness of the sales floor. They also work at Pop-up shops at Athletics and CSS Community events.

Requirements

• Must be a current or incoming CSS student
• Federal work study eligibility is required
• The ability to work Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:00 am - 11:30 am and Friday afternoons from 2:00 pm- 4:30 pm
• Ability to read, write, and communicate English effectively
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with customers, management, and co-workers in a polite and effective manner
• Ability to operate a cash register, calculators, and other basic office equipment
• Knowledge of computers and programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to move and handle boxes of merchandise including lifting up to 50 lbs. in a safe manner
• Must have strong organizational and critical thinking skills
• Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to perform basic math calculations in order to calculate the amount for discounts on sales items or change for customers
• Must be available outside of store hours in order to work during Pop-up shops and special events

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred, but not required
• The ability to work during Summer Semester is preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

• Greet and interact with customers
• Answer the phone and assist customers
• Provide excellent customer service
• Communicate effectively with managers, customers, and co-workers
• Process sales, returns, and exchanges of merchandise efficiently and accurately using the store Point of Sale system
• Assist with online order fulfillment as requested
• Assist with events in the Saints Shop
• Assist with Pop-up Shops, including Athletics events, Commencement and other CSS community events
• Receive, process, and stock new merchandise
• Re-stock merchandise
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, backroom and storage room
• Assist with Inventory and Cycle Counts
• Perform other duties as assigned
