About The Position

The City of Redondo Beach seeks personable, punctual part-time Sailing Instructors to work as part of our Sailing Program. This position is an at-will, part-time classification that is not eligible for City benefits. Under general supervision, the Sailing Instructor performs professional duties for the Community Services Department, including teaching sailing to students in classroom and other settings and performing other related duties as required. The position offers a flexible schedule, with classes taking place throughout the week and on weekends.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment
• Possession of a Charter Boat Captain's License issued by the United States Coast Guard is highly desirable
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, regulations, principles, procedures, and practices necessary to perform required duties
• Ability to read, speak, write, and understand the English language
• Meet medical standards for the classification
• Education and/or experience that provides the knowledge and ability necessary to perform required duties

Nice To Haves

• Additional licenses and/or certifications are highly desirable
