The Lead Infection Preventionist reports to the Director Quality. Under general supervision and within Brown University Health established policies and procedures manages the Saint Anne’s program designed to identify reduce and prevent healthcare-associated infections. This position has strong collaborative relationships through the system structure with the Director of Infection Prevention. The Lead Infection Preventionist has operational oversight for the systematic collection and analysis of infection data using epidemiological principles and statistical methods to identify trends and risk factors; designs implements and evaluates prevention strategies; serves as educational resource for Infection Preventionists related to infection prevention and control and epidemiology; is responsible for coordinating and ensuring smooth operational processes; assists in the investigation of suspected outbreaks and exposures to infectious agents; and collaborates with public health agencies and interdisciplinary team members as needed and in support of our inpatient hospital units/locations departments and ambulatory and outpatient units/locations. Additionally the Lead Infection Preventionist monitors quality assessment/performance improvement (QAPI) monitoring requirements of the ambulatory and outpatient infection control program and ensures that The Joint Commission (TJC) Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) MA DPH and other regulatory agency requirements (when applicable to inpatient or outpatient settings) are met.
