Position Summary : The Sage Way Peer Program Manager provides leadership through the oversight and management of a Peer Support Center funded through federal and state contracts for Adults with Serious Mental illness and or co-occurring Disorders, and systems of support for linking individuals to Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Resources.

Requirements

  • Four years of providing Substance use and Mental Health Related Services
  • At least 2 years of program management
  • CIPSS Certified or eligible
  • Excellent planning, time-management, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Proven experience prioritizing and making decisions with respect to multiple competing priorities
  • Proven interpersonal skills and experience provide complex administrative leadership in a high-profile, fast-paced environment with courtesy, flexibility, professionalism, diplomacy, efficiency, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, spelling and composition are necessary.
  • Extremely proactive and detail oriented while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Works under minimal supervision and can set own work sequence and pace within process limitations, as well as a self-starter who will be to take direction and feedback from supervisor, as needed.
  • Proficient use of standard office equipment such as printers, copiers, faxes, and scanners etc.
  • Flexibility, creativity, and ability to work with a variety of personalities and constituencies to meet the demands of the role.
  • Ability to serve as a trusted member of an essential team and uphold a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize the current agenda of tasks and anticipate future responsibilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint as well as Microsoft 365, Teams, and Zoom.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under the Agency’s automobile insurance plan at the standard rate.
  • Must pass all WPHW and program required background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Program/Project Management Support
  • Supervise three CIPSS certified Peer Navigators.
  • Support the management of grant deliverables in collaboration with the Director.
  • Ensure Peer Navigators are CIPSS certified within 180 days of hire.
  • Develop and/or utilize existing trainings with a focus on DHHS requirements and ensure Peer Navigators complete DHHS - approved trainings within thirty (30) calendar days of hire.
  • Provide ongoing oversight, supervision, and necessary training(s) to Peer Navigators.
  • Ensure Peer Navigators and supervisors remain up to date with current and emerging best practices.
  • Ensure Peer Navigator supervisors complete, at minimum: Peer Support 101, through the Department, within sixty (60) calendar days of the initial period of performance start date; and Department designated training(s) for peer managers within six (6) months of the initial period of performance start date.
  • Ensure formal supervision is provided to Peer Navigators for no less than one (1) hour per week.
  • Ensure that Peer Navigators provide required services as listed in the grant requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with the Syringe Exchange Program and Prevention Manager to ensure that participants have access to peer lead substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery services.
  • Develop and oversee the provision of community substance use prevention trainings.
  • Develop and oversee the provision of Stakeholder trainings that supports substance use prevention, treatment and recovery. including but not limited to, mental health, substance use, and other wellness programs; educational institutions; and interested community partners, including: Ten (10),sixty (60) to ninety (90) minute trainings on national best practice for overdose recognition and response; Four (4), sixty (60) to ninety (90) minute trainings covering the basics of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Prevention; and Twenty-four (24) naloxone administration, distribution, and educational trainings.
  • Organize and oversee the implementation of two peer lead support groups daily.
  • Oversee and implement a required Community Advisory Board in compliance with the State of Maine DHHS guidance.
  • Prepare and disseminate a calendar of services offered including but not limited to Peer Lead Support groups, Community and Stakeholder Trainings, and other related activities.
  • Collaborate with Prevention staff to create and disseminate overdose prevention information and materials.
  • Promote and disseminate HIV/ HCV and other sexual health information.
  • Promote and refer participants to partner clinical services including but not limited to: Case Management; Wellness Programs; Maternal Child Health, General Medical Support, and other available services within the catchment area.
  • Ensure that the website has current and accurate information about the program
  • Ensure the Wabanaki Careline has the correct program information for referrals.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with health fair and other outreach events.
  • Plan and implement special events as appropriate.
  • Participate in the writing and implementation of agency and program policies.
  • Oversee and ensure the required reporting is completed on time and with high quality
  • Ensure the required deliverables are accomplished and reported on.
  • Maintain a Peer Center that is welcoming, clean and drug and alcohol free.
  • Ensure that there are at least 40 hours of service weekly.
  • Ensure collaboration and connectivity between all WPHW programs
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
