About The Position

The Store Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail grocery store, ensuring effective management of staff, customer service, and store performance. This role involves making key decisions related to hiring, training, and scheduling, while also focusing on achieving sales goals and maintaining compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; College degree preferred.
  • Three years of Store Manager experience or five years of retail/managerial experience in an Assistant Manager capacity required.
  • Retail grocery experience required.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service and supervisory skills.
  • Strong understanding of overall retail store operations.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Computer literacy.

  • Experience in a multi-department operation within retail, hospitality, or service industry.
  • Ability to make quality decisions under time constraints.

Responsibilities

  • Overall management responsibility for the operation of a retail grocery store.
  • Track, analyze and take action to improve store performance by forecasting weekly/daily sales goals.
  • Communicate sales goals and department performance with staff to ensure positive results.
  • Forecast, schedule, and monitor labor to align with store sales and productivity guidelines.
  • Develop and direct strategies to improve product placement and appearance.
  • Manage display accuracy and appearance to implement promotions.
  • Ensure proper product display and in-stock conditions.
  • Manage store maintenance, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation.
  • Oversee cash handling and accounting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Focus on customer satisfaction and ensure superior customer service.
  • Handle customer and employee complaints effectively.
  • Select, train, develop, and manage store employees' performance.
  • Maintain professional relationships with union officials and ensure compliance with agreements.
  • Motivate staff to achieve common objectives and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Ensure the store is properly staffed to meet labor and sales goals.
