Under the leadership of the Director of Human Resources, the Safety and Wellness HR Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring citywide safety and wellness programs to foster a safe, healthy, and productive workforce, ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and supporting risk management initiatives. The midpoint of the salary range for this role is $75,055, with actual pay based on experience, education, and skills. The ideal candidate will work closely with the third-party administrator to manage the city’s workers’ compensation program, as well as assess and identify workplace hazards and safety training requirements for each city position. The ideal candidate will administer and oversee the City’s U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse program for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) holders, ensuring full compliance with all applicable federal regulations and related state requirements. Additionally, the ideal candidate will lead the City’s employee wellness strategy by designing, implementing, and continuously improving comprehensive, city-wide wellness initiatives that support employees’ well-being.
